Venus: This only occultation of Venus in 2011 is visible in Africa, Middle East and Asia. It will be observable before sunrise in western Africa, all the other countries involved will witness the occultation during daylight. You need a strong telescope to see this one, but because Venus is a -3.8 magnitude (very bright) celestial body the object being occulted is not the problem. If you get this one in view it will be amazing.
Timing: The first location where the Moon occults Venus is Tripoli Libya at 05:44 Universal Time. Also a small tip of Europe, Greece will see the occultation, around 06:04 UT. Check the table below for timing and the Moon map to find where Venus will disappear and reappear for the calculated city's. Live Broadcasting: Moderate. This occultation takes place during daylight in almost the entire visibility area. The 2,1% waning Moon makes observing both the disappearance and reappearance possible but being only 15 degrees seperated from the Sun, you need a very strong telescope for witnessing this occultation because of daylight interference.
